Our grading scale is based on the Harry Potter books: Though you are free to adjust to the scale (curve the grade or make it harder to pass your class), this is the basic scale for how to determine the letter grade: Percentage | Letter Grade | 90-100 | O (outstanding) | 80-89 | E (exceeds expectation) | 70-79 | A (acceptable) | 60-69 | P (poor) | 50-59 | D (dreadful) | 49 and lower | T (troll) |

Determining grades
In a term, there is a total of five classes with optional homework, midterm, or final exams. Unless you feel like changing this around, this is how things will be weighted:
Class 1: 20 points Class 2: 20 points Class 3: 20 points Class 4: 20 points Class 5: 20 points
The total possible points (not including bonus questions) is 100 points. Professors reserve the right not to award you full credit for participation. This is usually when a student only posts once in a thread. It also depends upon the length of a thread.

Bonus Points
This is for professors and students who wish to utilize bonus points:
**The maximum number of homework assignments any professor may issue is 3. Each homework assignment can give a student up to 5 bonus points. Should a student do 3 assignments and earn all 5 points per assignment, they can earn up to 15 points.
**Only one midterm exam can be assigned. It is completely optional. A student may earn up to 20 points by doing the midterm which would make up for one missed class.
**Only one final exam can be assigned. It is completely optional. A student may earn up to 20 points by doing the midterm which would make up for one missed class.
No student may make higher than a 115% in any class.

GradebookAt the end of the term, the Deputy Headmaster will need to be able to look at a professor's gradebook to determine the scores of the students to log in the permanent records. As such, we request you follow the following template: (To find the final score, add up all of the points, including the bonus points, and divide by 5.) Name | House | Year | Class 1 | Class 2 | Class 3 | Class 4 | Class 5 | Bonus Points | Total Points | Average (%) | Letter Grade | last name, first name | student's house | student's year | grade | grade | grade | grade | grade | grade | points | avg % | letter | last name, first name | student's house | student's year | grade | grade | grade | grade | grade | grade | points | avg % | letter | last name, first name | student's house | student's year | grade | grade | grade | grade | grade | grade | points | avg % | letter |
