History
When Caitlyn was born she had a different name. She used to be called Jiao and she can't remember the rest. All she knows is that she was born in China to muggle parents who passed away when she was two. They tell her that they died of some freak accident. She never bothered asking why. In fact, apart from her appearance, Caitlyn has nothing that identifies her with China. She has never been there, nor has she ever felt the need to visit her birth country. To her, England has always been home and she can't imagine it being any different.
She had a happy childhood. For her adoptive parents she was the long wished for child. At first Rebecca Holloway had thought she was infurtile, which led to the adoption in the first place. It was only when Caitlyn turned six that Joshua was born. Caitlyn had feared that there would be no need for her anymore and at that age she had firmly believed that she could be thrown away if she got boring or predictable. But unlike the wicked parents in her fairytale books, her own ones seemed to love her.
When she turned eleven, she got a letter from Hogwarts. Everyone thought it was a giant joke and she got into trouble for what Rebecca called a "ridiculous practical joke." Only after Minerva McGonagall, the deputy Head of Hogwarts school at that time arrived and explained the whole issue, did they understand. They were reluctant about it at first, but after Caitlyn's pleas, she was allowed to go.
After being sorted into Ravenclaw house, she found two loves: Quidditch and duelling. The former happened when she joined the team in the third year. In that time she was the only female beater in Ravenclaw up until she graduated. The latter was because she did not enjoy being called a mudblood. She spent most of her time playing Quidditch, fighting with Slytherin's or spending time in detention. Her grades were good and she maintained good marks in all of her subjects except potions. But that was not important anyway.
When she graduated, she knew almost exactly what to do. She joined the Daily Prophet and worked as a columnist for two years. She then took a break, toured the world and had an experimental flirt with photography... which turned out not so well. She returned to England when she was twenty and joined the prophet once again. There she did all sorts of odd jobs, wrote columns, articles, interviewed people and worked on the sports page. She met Samuel Pearson when she was twenty two. He was thiry years old, a charmer and a flirt. He worked as a healer and he promised the world to her. She fell for him instantly. It was only when she became pregnant at twenty three that he got cold feet. He left her and his child and she never heard from him again since.
When she turned 25, she became editor of the Daily Prophet...
