HARRY
FULL NAME: Harry James Potter
ALIAS: the Boy-Who-Lived
AGE: 13
BIRTHDATE: July 31
SEX: Male
LIKES: Quidditch, Chocolate Frogs, Defense Against the Dark Arts
DISLIKES: Voldemort, Death Eaters, Pure Blood Enthusiasts, Potions, Snape, Being Constantly Stared At
SECRETS: He doesn't have very many considering his life has been under constant scrutiny. He does tend to keep small secrets, or at least ones that he feels would worry his friends or family.
POWERS / ABILITIES: Aside from being just your average wizard, Harry has a knack for avoiding being controlled by the Imperius Curse. In addition, because of the attack from Voldemort when he was one, a connection was made between them which allows him to speak Parcel Tongue. Harry is also a natural flyer, small and agile which makes him great for being a seeker.
PERSONALITY: Harry is not exactly a simple person. There are many facets that make up his personality, and not all of them are necessarily consistent. One one hand, Harry can be an extremely selfless person. The idea of risking his life, or putting it all on the line as some might say, is something he has had to consider more than once. Yet, Harry can also be pretty selfish and a little entitled. He sometimes resents his role as constant hero/target and makes it pretty clear that he would rather lead a normal life and that it is unfair that he was singled out to be 'special.'
Aside from the stresses of being the 'boy-who-lived,' Harry is able to find a sense of normalcy in the mundane aspects of his life. He enjoys being around his friends, particularly Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger and he loves Quidditch. Still, it is almost impossible to escape the hero worship that seems to come part and parcel with being the only person who survived a Killing Curse or the taunts and jeers of those who would love nothing more than to see him dead. In his opinion, life has never been simple for him and this makes it a little difficult to deal with things on an emotional level. Harry has a tendency to either respond too dramatically or not dramatically enough. However, his spurts of over-emotion typically outweigh callousness.
Harry is pretty close minded in some cases. He tends to stick with initial judgments unless proven wrong later on down the road. For example, he is always quick to blame his professor, Severus Snape for any wrong doings despite the fact that he has shown time and again that he is not a 'bad' guy. He tends to be blinded to the truth because he lets himself get carried away with his own suspicions, and it more times than not gets him into more trouble than it's worth.
HAIR: Black, messy
EYES: Green eyes, like his mother's.
PLAY-BY/FACE CLAIM: Daniel Radcliffe
CURRENT AFFILIATION: Loyal to the Order
MOTHER: Lily Evans-Potter
FATHER: James Potter
SIBLING(s): none
SPOUSE: none
HISTORY:
Is there a person alive in the Wizarding World that is not aware of Harry James Potter's history? For a time, it seemed that everybody else knew more about him than he knew about himself. But as he quickly assimilated into the world of magic, pieces began to fit together. The big picture is rather straightforward:
Harry Potter was born to James and Lily and was raised for the first year of his life in a small wizarding neighborhood called Godric's Hollow. However, because of his parent's involvement with the Order and because of a prophecy made that may or may not have been talking about him, the Potters were targetted by the Dark Overlord named Voldemort on Halloween night when he was only one years old. Voldemort killed his unarmed father and then proceeded to kill a pleading Lily. However, before she died, Lily put a spell of protection on Harry- old magic as it was called. This caused the Killing Curse that Voldemort cast on Harry to backfire on the caster. That same night, Harry was taken by Hagrid to Number 4 Privet Drive where he was to be raised for the next ten years by his aunt and uncle, the Dursleys.
Those ten years were the most miserable of his life. He was forced to sleep in a close beneath the stairs and wore his cousin's hand-me-downs... clothes that were always too big for him as his Dudley was pretty large himself. For years he watched as Dudley got everything and he got nothing, constantly longing for a different life... or at least other surviving relatives who would come and rescue him. On his eleventh birthday, his wishes were realized when Hagrid came and told him about his parentage and about the world of magic. Harry was a wizard. He began his first year at Hogwarts then.
It was a life he could have only dreamed of. He revelled in learning spells and in playing Quidditch (becoming the youngest seeker in a century to play at Hogwarts), but with the sweet came the sour. His involvement in Voldemort's 'disappearance' had made him the most famous kid at Hogwarts, and for some that was worthy of worship and for others, it made him an enemy. However, no threat was as great as the prevalent Dark Wizard that still thirsted to be rid of Harry... Voldemort. He had not been slain completely and was living as a parasite on the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor who targetted Harry at the end of the year. Harry narrowly avoided death and was able to face his rival with the help of his two best friends, Ron and Hermione.
His second year was just as interesting as he learned about the possibility of a secret chamber created by one of the four founders at Hogwarts. He also learned that his ability to talk to snakes was something that wasn't really smiled upon by polite society. He watched throughout the year as many people were being petrified inexplicably. One of those people was Hermione Granger. Then finally, his best mate's younger sister, Ginny Weasley, was taken into the chamber. Hogwarts was on the brink of closing down. Ron and Harry snuck into the chamber and Harry battled a basilisk as well as a younger version of Voldemort which became manifest because of his old school diary that had come into Ginny's possession because of Lucius Malfoy. After destroying it and rescuing Ginny via the Sword of Gryffindor, Harry once again returned to the Dursley's for what was sure to be an awful summer.
((not sure where to write in Sirius' escape from Azkaban, inclusion in Harry's life, and eventual death (or Lupin's for that matter) but let's pretend it happened already.))
However, it turned out to be the best summer of his life. Those who had fallen during the current war were beginning to return through the veil thanks to the Department of Mysteries. Among the newly risen were Harry's godfather, Sirius Black whom he was close to, Remus Lupin, and best of all, his mother and father. It was James who had come to the Dursley's doorstep to reclaim his son and take him back to live with him in Godric's Hollow. Harry was overjoyed at the chance to have a normal family once again. He settled in nicely to a life with his parents, but fate's cruel hand struck once again when his father suddenly vanished one night. He tries to remain strong for his mother and also for Sirius who is also dealing with his own tragedy from having lost his wife.
Harry has just begun his third year at Hogwarts...
