Tammy gave a noncommital nod as her stepfather disappeared into Borgin & Burkes. She refused to set foot into that store, thinking that it was bad enough to go to Knockturn Alley in the first place, nevermind actually going into that store. He had told her to stay there and wait for him to finish shopping for whatever merchandise he was seeking. She was annoyed. Beyond annoyed actually. She had found her mother, passed out from drinking on the kitchen floor in the morning. It was not the most lovely of sights to encounter and it brought back many painful childhood memories. Having to take care of her own mother as a little girl had left it's scars on the inside, she was determined not to show them, of course, but still.
She kicked at a loose stone by the curb, hands in her robes, eyes keenly looking at her surroundings. She hated Knockturn Alley. Her mother had never taken her there and her real father, her actual father would have never dragged her to some place as disgusting as this! It was only ever since her stepfather, together with his spiteful daughter had taken over, that her world was turned completely upside down. All of the sudden, she was told not to hang around with the likes of Luke Helsing. All of the sudden she had to accompany her stepfather to Knockturn Alley! All of the sudden he was telling her to enlist with the Death Eaters. She scowled and turned around, freezing in shock when she spied someone she vaguely knew... from somewhere.

Bellatrix was within the store of Borgin & Burkes. She was waiting for the arrival of Lance Clemens, the step-father of Tamara who was the girl waiting outside. She looked at Clemens and knew that their plan was to be set in the next few minutes. He had given her a smile as a thank you, but she responded back without caring about her tone. "This isn't for you. It's for the Dark Lord." She then walked out of the store through the back door and went around the corner. She didn't pop out of nowhere but instead watched the girl while she kicked a stone from the curb. She knew that sooner or later she had to go out in the open and talk to the girl.
Bellatrix took a deep breath in, knowing that she was going to start her game and began to walk out. The girl immediately saw her and she could tell that she was trying to figure her out. Bellatrix gave the most fakest smile she could ever give to a person and walked on over. "Oh my. You must be Lance's stepdaughter. I've heard so much about you. I'm Bellatrix Lestrange," she said and held her hand out for her to shake it. Bellatrix tried to hold herself the best she could. She needed to be fake this once to the girl- they needed recruits and this girl could be of some help to the Death Eaters.

She looked down at the womans hand as though she was trying to poison her. She flinched and withdrew her hand, pointedly raising her chin a little higher as though challenging her. She did not care how rude she was being and thanked her lucky stars that Lance wasn't around to see it. She narrowed her eyes suspiciously. "I know who you are," she spat out. Of course she did. The woman was in the newspapers for Merlin's sake! Everyone knew that she was Voldemort's right hand! What did spark her curiousity though, was why Bellatrix was here, speaking to her. "He did?" Her voice was drenched with skepticism. She clearly did not trust, nor did she believe a word out of that woman's mouth. "You know... my father, my real one that is, told me never to speak to strangers." She levelled the older woman with a glare that told her she wasn't afraid in the least. "I think I'm going to keep that promise." She turned and prepared to leave.

Bellatrix saw the challenge that the girl had tried to give her. It made Bellatrix angry, but of course she needed to keep her cool. She knew a game was to be played. But it wasn't just any old game: it was one that Bellatrix was a professional at playing. She looked down to the girl with a smirk painted on her face. The little girl had began to say that she shouldn't talk to strangers and that she would do so. Bellatrix could say something hurtful, but she needed to make sure she was persuading the girl, not pushing her away.
"And your father is right. You shouldn't speak to such strangers that walk around the streets of Knockturn Alley. But my dear, I am no stranger. I am a family-friend of your step-father. I just haven't yet to meet you, and seeing as I ran into you now, I'd like to know you," she said, giving her another fake smile. How she hated the poison that was coming out of her mouth. What she wanted to really say was that her father was dead for a reason and to obey her step-father for her has done more than what her decayed father had done. But thankfully, she didn't say anything of the sort. She'll let the girl slightly win the game in the beginning if what Bellatrix is doing doesn't work.

Tammy laughed a hollow laugh that lacked humor. Her eyes glinted furiously as she glared at Bellatrix. She couldn't believe this. She was actually staring down Bellatrix Lestrange and the woman hadn't dismembered her yet. There was something fishy about the whole thing, but her curiousity won over her sense. "Fine. Let's say that I believe you. Why would someone like you be interested in meeting someone like me?" She took a step backwards, disgust clear on her face. Maybe it wasn't the smartest move she could make and her instincts screamed for her to not say what she was thinking. Her pride, however, won the battle. "You think that I'm on your side, don't you?"
She hadn't known that she was practically trembling with fury. She knew a whole lot about this woman. She knew just how evil she was supposed to be. "Well, then you are about to be severely disappointed. I won't be on your side, I never will." She crossed her arms over her chest, only acutely aware that she was tiny, far, far smaller than the full-fledged Death Eater before her. "Voldemort isn't better than any of the rest of us. I know muggleborns and he's not worthy to even lick the sole of their shoes!"

Bellatrix knew this girl was going to be hard. For Clemens to ask for her help, meant that this one wasn't going to budge as easily as the others have done. "Why wouldn't I be interested in meeting you?" she asked, not wanting to answer her question. It was always best to deal with children in question than in answer. It leaves them wondering and it then leaves the adult to play the game.
"You're too young to know which side you're on. You may be on the side you think is right, but surely, you don't know what is right. And-" immediately, when Tamara had spoken about Voldemort in such a matter, Bellatrix's anger decided to get the best of her.
She took out her wand and pointed it at Tamara. "To be honest my dear, I wouldn't want to mess with such words," she whispered and gave a little laugh circling Tamara slowly. "If you do, then I don't think your father would be too happy that your mouth ended your life so early," she smiled.

Tammy took an involuntary step backwards, eyeing the wand as she did so. She wasn't surprised at Bellatrix' response to her taunting. In fact, she only felt strengthened. The sweetness was only an act and she had caught her out on it! "Which words?" she asked innocently. "You mean... the truth?" She grinned, not feeling as put out by the wand directed at her than she probably should be. Maybe it was the daring streak, the adrenaline high or the fact that death did not pose much of a threat at the moment. "My father wouldn't care. His mission is to make me a Death Eater, which I've kindly refused in the past. I'll stick to my kind," she said, raising her chin in defiance. "You stick to yours."

Bellatrix moved the wand closer to the girl, letting it touch her skin gently. "Your kind is with us. And sooner or later you will realize that. You're a Slytherin, my dear. Your path is to become a Death Eater and you know it. You know it so well that you fight yourself about it," Bellatrix laughed and let the wand slightly dig into her skin.
"Your soul and your thoughts are fighting with each other. I don't need to peek into your mind to see such a thing. You say that you're not going to side with the Death Eaters, oh but your wrong. You could have just walked away from me, but your curiosity stopped you and you immediately challenge me to a game that I will always win in. You are a Death Eater. You just can't admit it," she said, giving Tamara an eerie smile. "Don't fight it. It will only make it worse," she added, her eyes filled with excitement.

She gasped. Not about the wand against her skin. That did not bother her that much. It was the words, the wicked, evil words that burned. They were all true. She knew that of course because she had been battling her destiny forever. She shook her head viciously. "No!" Tammy's shout came as a surprise, even to her. She clapped a hand over her mouth. "No." She took a step closer, her hand moving up to push Bellatrix's wand away. "You are wrong about that. You know nothing!" She shook as she spoke. Every bit of self doubt, of confusion and of frustration bubbling over. "I'm a Slytherin but that does not mean anything. I don't have to be evil, I don't!"
She backed away, as though that would help her break some kind of curse. "Death Eaters are evil, I'm not. I'm good!" A lone tear slipped down her face as she said so and she wiped at it angrily. "I'm not a Death Eater!" she screamed. Several heads turned to look at her. Another laugh shook her body and she balled her hands into tight fists at her side. "But I will fight it. You can count on that at least. I will never join the Death Eaters!"

A smirk appeared on Bellatrix's face. How she loved to see someone shrivel in mental or physical pain. It was a bonus if it was both at the same time. Though this girl didn't deserve that reward just yet. Mental was all she needed; was all Bellatrix needed to get her work done. "You have dedication and determination. My dear, you are already close to being a Death Eater. If you're going to try and 'fight it', then you have at least three years left. That is when you're forced to be one of us. But seeing how you are, you're going to join before the three years hit. My dear, you're more of a Death Eater now than you think," she laughed.
Bellatrix moved her wand away from the girl and just looked at her. Tears were dropping down her cheeks and she was shaking more than anything. How she loved to win such challenges. "By the way, know who you're challenging against. Because, Tamara, I always win."
