Overall personality:
All right! So maybe he's just a little obsessive-compulsive. It's not his fault that other people don't see that there is an organization to everything and that certain things should be a certain way with no exceptions. And it's not his fault that he was taught to have a work ethic which made him want to put extra effort in doing a job right and well. So what if he's obsessed with being the best Quidditch Player at Hogwarts? So what if he wants to be the best student? Is that a crime?
Oh, and he can be too defensive at times. It would explain why he plays the most defensive position in Quidditch. Also, everything always somehow ties back to Quidditch, but we've already covered obsessive-compulsive. He's not only defensive of himself but of others. They don't even have to be his friends. Whenever he sees something unfair happening to somebody not capable of defending themselves, he springs to action and plays the hero. Don't call him the knight in shining armor though. He hates that.
He's ferocious on the pitch and animated when it comes to talking about Quidditch but he's also extremely shy especially around girls. He's had girlfriends before but since he doesn't really know what to talk about generally conversations revolve around his favorite sport. One of his pet peeves is when girls want to date him just because he's the captain of the Quidditch team.
He can also be close-minded... He is trying to improve but he's got a pretty bad habit of categorizing the world in black and white with no shades of gray. Something is either right or wrong. This vice makes him come across as self-righteous and let's face it, he is.
Parents: Oliver's father is Lachlan Wood, a man who works for the Goblin Liaison Office for the Ministry of Magic. In addition to that, Lachlan is also a member of the Order of the Phoenix and supports his son's decision to join. His mother is Ophelia Wood, a former copy-editor for the Daily Prophet who is currently on maternity leave to care for her young daughter.
Siblings: Oliver's younger sister by ten years is Juniper Wood. He is very protective over her, and unlike most older siblings, does not mind when she wants to tag along with him and his friends.
Pets: The family has two cats named Connor and Murphy
Other family: His grandparents on his father's side both were murdered by Death Eaters during the first war and had been members of the original Order of the Phoenix. His grandparents on his mother's side both reside in Glasgow and usually come to stay the summer with their daughter.
How do they like their family?: Oliver loves his family, gets along with them well, and would put his life on the line for them.
Do they share the same views?: Oliver was raised to believe that there were some causes that are worth dying for. One of those causes is the elimination of the terrorist group, the Death Eaters. Also, many of his friends are halfblood or muggle and like his father and his grandparents, he feels that it's not just an obligation but a responsibility to stand up for their rights.
History:
Oliver's life is not made up of extraordinary events. He spent the first ten years of his life as an only child to a modest, middle-class wizarding couple who did not exactly dote on Oliver, but gave him what they could when they could. Though he was born and spent eight years in Glasgow, big city life never did stick with him since his father moved the family to Torridon when he was eight years old. Oliver preferred the mountain town to the big city because he was able to hike up into the mountains with his best friend, Christopher, to practice Quidditch. He was athletic even back then and spent most of his time outdoors than in. Summers were spent at the Loch or at his friend's swimming pool. At ten, the Woods welcomed a new addition to the family. Being a big brother changed him a lot and because of the demands a new baby took, he learned to be more independent from his parents and more patient and humble.
Oliver proudly followed the tradition of his family when he was sorted into Gryffindor. His biggest complaint was that first years could not take brooms and had to use the school's mediocre brooms for flying lessons. By the time his second year came Charlie Weasley had scooped him up to play as the keeper for Gryffindor. He sucked then but got better by the end of the year. Academically Oliver is a very intelligent wizard though not many people think so since he's normally identified as being the resident Quidditch junkie. Most people look at him and think dumb jock even though he has some of the highest marks in his year. School work may not be what he likes best but he approaches it with the same determination he approaches Quidditch with.
He was made captain of the Quidditch team in his third year after Charlie Weasley graduated and has since been building and maintaining what he feels is the best team Hogwarts has seen.
