Two hours later and Phelan still had no idea what she was reading. It had nothing to do with understanding the material, but everything to do with caring about the material which she didn't. Looking, for what must have been the thousandth time, she sighed at the white pillow-y clouds that drifted by. It was too beautiful of a day to stay inside, but with the workload, she couldn't take the chance of enjoying a few hours of fun and falling behind. Glaring at the stream of light that entered through the window, she got up and chose another chair. One facing a stack of books left behind by a careless student. Ten minutes ticked by without her having absorbed anything from the pages she was supposed to be reading. Slamming the book closed, she rubbed her eyes and looked around for anyone she knew. There were a few, but none that she would care to start a conversation with.
Another look out the window made her shove the book away. There was absolutely no way she was going to be able to concentrate on her studies if all she wanted to do was take the opportunity and go flying. Or take her mat outside. Oh, she'd love to find a quiet spot on the lawn near the trees by the lake and run through some calming positions.

He had lost her! He'd been afraid that with the amount of books he was carrying he wouldn't be able to outpace her but thankfully the stairs proved to be too much for her. It was definitely a turn off to be chased by such an un-athletic person who couldn't deal with four flights of stairs. Now he knew how to get away from her. If only Melinda wasn't a Gryffindor so he could actually keep studying in the common room without having to worry about her batting her big blue eyes in his direction or trying to be discreet about showing her legs off to him. It was funny at first but even George was getting tired of making jokes about it.
He walked up to the front counter where the librarian was and set the books down. She gave him a pleasing smile. "Finished already Mr. Wood?" she asked.
"Some of them," he answered. "I came to recheck out the rest. I'll need to hold on to Advanced Transfiguration and Defensive Charms. I think I'll also keep History of the Quidditch World Cup. It was a good book so I'll probably read it again." He waited patiently as she did all of that, and then grabbing the three books, he turned to leave but she was there. Why God? Why did she have to be there staring up at him with those love-struck eyes.
"Melinda....."
"Hey there Ollie!" He winced at the nickname. "I was just looking for you."
"I bet.." He mumbled. Maybe he was being too harsh to her. She was beautiful or attractive. Thin with long blond hair that fell in waves to her lower back, cream colored skin and legs that just didn't stop. Too bad about her being so dumb. That was really the biggest reason he could never consider her. "I actually can't talk now Melinda. I've got to study."
"Study what?" she asked in her excitable way.
What class did they not have together? "Arithmancy. I have to study Arithmancy."
"Oh.. Do you mind if I join you."
Yes I bloody mind! "If.. you want.. to." How could she not pick up on how disappointed he sounded. Chris was right. He needed to learn how to say no to people.

Phelan looked up when she heard the discussion going on near by. After a few seconds she couldn't help but start giggling at the situation that was going on in front of her. Could the girl not take a hint or had she never been turned down in her life to notice a 'please, God, no!' in disguise? Taking pity on the Gryffindor captain, she grabbed the book she had been reading and got up to go over. "I've been waiting for you." Normally she would have just kept watching, but the look on his face had prevented her from staying put. "You were supposed to be here ages ago, but I guess you got distracted." She shot the gryffindor girl a scathing look before turning back to the Gryffindor captain. "If I'd known I couldn't count on you for help in Arithmancy, I'd have asked someone else." Thank God she'd overheard the subject he had tried to use as an escape or she might have said a class the girl might have chipped in.
"And he said yes, but I'm saying no. No, you can't join us." She smiled sweetly at the girl before waving a hand at the exit. "Hope you don't mind leaving us to study." She placed a hand on Oliver's arm and watched as the girl registered the gesture. Without even a protest, Melinda -she'd heard the gryffindor boy call her- turned and flounced out. "Your welcome, gryffindor." She dropped her hand away and smiled. "She'll probably spread a rumor, but you shouldn't worry. No one will believe her."

What in the wide, wide world of Quidditch was going on here? It didn't take him long to figure out what she was doing and he tried not to look too grateful at first. She was getting after him so he'd look appropriately contrite. "I'm sorry, San," he said thanking whatever it was that helped him remember her name right now. He was usually terrible at names. "Fred and George dropped a dung bomb in the locker rooms and Filch made us all stay behind and take care of it." It was only a little lie since that really had happened three days ago.
He could have hugged her right now for that but he wanted to be sure Melinda was gone completely before he started showing his gratitude. "Thanks for that," he said quietly. He made a face when she reminded him that rumors from this were a possibility. It wouldn't be the first time he'd had his name caught up in one and if Melinda started one she would ensure that he hated her forever for it. "Probably not.. She's not really a credible source is she?"

Outfit: clickPhelan laughed not caring one inch whether the girl started a rumor or not. "From what I know of her, and I don't know a lot, I wouldn't worry." She turned to head back to where she'd been sitting, "I was surprised you were able to come up with a name so quickly. I assume 'San' would be my last name." She was teasing him, but she wondered whether he'd take her seriously. "It's okay that you don't know my name. I only know you by Wood. And now Ollie." She used the same excited tone Melinda had used to pronounce it. Taking her place at the table she looked toward the exit where the girl had just now disappeared through. "A fan?" She asked, opening her book back up to the page she'd left off. "Or a stalker? A blurry line between those two sometimes though." She'd yet to tell him her name and she wouldn't -not even if he asked.
