Orders. Mira frowned slightly as she tried to read a new book her brother sent her, but her eyes constantly flickered across the brightly lit hallway, the glass windows shining under the noon sunlight. She had all the appearance of someone waiting for something to happen, a time frame to click into the right place at the right moment. Sitting on a window sill, the cool breeze gushed softly through the open window and fluttered the dry pages in its wake. She gave an irritated sigh that hissed in the back of throat as she held down the pages.
Mira hated the orders. Go and recruit more lousy students? She got Kenzie, a small thing but a shining star anyway, and they already got some other new people. But no, the more the merrier it seemed, get them while they are young and you would probably have them for the rest of their lives. Mira smiled darkly, whoever said they had to be Slytherins?
The light filtered through the windows slipped across the floor and Mira closed her book, stretching as she pulled on her school cloak before heading towards the shifting stairs. She slowed down slightly, hesitating before stepping onto the marble steps. Chills still dripped down her back every time she looked down, or felt the stairs move. Climbing up, there was another student, a Ravenclaw, ahead on another landing going in the same direction as her. She kept her distance, when curiously the boy turned towards the third floor door, the forbidden passage, instead of an adjoining stairway down to the second floor. No one saw them as Mira slipped in behind the boy, wand drawn discreetly and hovering by her side as she stepped into a gloomy passage, the fire on the pillars flaring up beside her and ahead of her.
The Ravenclaw was in the same year as her and in one of her classes. He was quiet and mysterious, but discreet enough as to ward away fluttering eyes and flippant hair. He hung out with an odd group, a couple Slytherins and another gloomy Ravenclaw, who seem to have gravitated towards him as their centre, though at first glance you probably saw glaring eyes staring back at you before you could take a proper second look. The Ravenclaw was actually pretty wimpy and constantly bullied, though his friends would always step in whenever they could, leaving behind pretty decent remains of an overpowered fight. Despite that bit, his friends circle around him because he is, simply, different.
His honey brown eyes stared darkly at Mira, leaning against one of the second row of pillars he was barely taller then her, his brown hair flecked like copper in the light; the flickering fire threw shadows everywhere, sending dark shapes back and forth between them. Mira grinned, "Hello Enma Lusphilip." Enma stared back at Mira, his face passive as ever, "Nice to finally meet you face to face, Mira Noth." Mira chuckled, so the boy knew she was digging around about him, but that wasn't too surprising, it is always the quite ones with dark watchful eyes that know everything. One of the fires blazed and Mira could see Enma's wand, out and ready by his side like a trustful pet.
"Don't worry, I haven't hunted you down to duel you, I've noticed you and have an interesting offer to make," Mira smiled.
Enma nodded carefully, as if tasting each word slowly in his mouth before releasing them, "Yes, and I've seen you around too, before you started stalking me. You're a mischievous little creature."
Laughing lightly, Mira raised an eyebrow, "Hmm, little creature? Nice way of putting it, but that's just the surface and I know," she said softly, blue eyes flashing, "How curious you are to know more of what hides in the shadows."
Enma gave a shy smile, "Only one way to find out," he whispered, lifting his hand like a graceful, sweeping move before a bow, and light flashed as Mira thought, Protego, and it bounced away, disappearing into the gloom. They where there one second, gone the next, it was a dangerous dance flickering from light to dark, and any second Mrs. Norris would come sniffing trouble only to run off again to bring in her dishevelled owner, if a spell didn't accidentally catch her. Enma charmed the flames and Mira summoned various animals only to transfigure them into whatever she needed, shield or weapon. The whooshing of the flames occasionally disturbed by twittering and silent steps and whispered spells. Mira caught a burn on her arm, and she cursed under her breath, smiling as Enma yelped, tripping over the rope Mira set up earlier, sending him sprawling across the floor, wand flying from hand. Footsteps clicking emptily, the winner stood triumphant over the defeated.
"Welcome to the DE."
