SAMANTHA
FULL NAME: Samantha Ashton
ALIAS: Sam
AGE: 11
BIRTHDATE: August 27th
SEX: Female
LIKES:
DISLIKES:
WAND: Hazel, 9 1/2", flexible, with a core of unicorn tail hair. Very versatile.
PERSONALITY: (Will be expanded as the character develops.)
Bookish: Unintentionally consolidating the Ravenclaw first-year stereotype, Samantha loves little more than she does books. Happy to curl up in the common room or by the lake with one of her leather-bound friends and some solitude, she has been known to zone out for hours, not realizing the passing of time until she has missed lunch, dinner, and several appointments in between.
Unassuming: Never one to do anything daring or causing her to stand out of the crowd, Samantha is the kind of person who fades into the background - and likes it that way. While not necessarily exceptionally shy (though certainly not particularly brave), she avoids drawing attention herself, seeing no need for spectacular pranks or other shenanigans. She does not make new friends quickly or easily, as she is rarely one to start a conversation or introduce herself.
Intelligent: Though she may not realize it, and would certainly never boast about it, Samantha is quick-witted and very much capable of thinking on her feet. She enjoys intellectual stimulation, jumping at the chance of extra credit work - which probably doesn't help her mildly nerdy or geeky appearance. Once she knows her conversational partner well, she appreciates a sarcastic sense of humour and any engaging discussion on a topic of interest.
HAIR: Mousy brown, slightly wavy, just below shoulder length
EYES: Hazel
PLAY-BY/FACE CLAIM: Ellen Page
CURRENT AFFILIATION: None
MOTHER: Clara Weaver-Ashton, 37
FATHER: Robert Ashton, 39
BROTHER: Alexander Ashton, 15
SISTER Christine Ashton, Unborn
HISTORY:
Thus far, Samantha has enjoyed a pleasantly normal and happy, if not a little sheltered, childhood. Her mother and father are wizards and Hogwarts alumns, having belonged to Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff house, respectively. She grew up in a small wizarding village not far from Prescot, near Manchester. She attended a small village Muggle school before receiving her Hogwarts letter in order to learn how to read and write as well as make and stay in contact with friends in her hometown. While she didn't mind her Muggle school, knowing she was a witch and was going to learn all about magic and spells occasionally made Math and Grammar classes mildly uninteresting.
Her older brother, Alexander, whom she gets along with very well, is currently also attending Hogwarts, having just started his fifth year there. She was looking forward to finally spend more time with him once she came to Hogwarts. However, as they were sorted into different houses, him being a Gryffindor, coupled with their age difference, prevented them from running into each other constantly. He did, however, promise to eventually give her some flying lessons - something she was never allowed back home thanks to her mother being afraid she would fall and break her neck, which came as a bit of a surprise since her brother is sometimes even more protective of her than her parents.
Just a few weeks before coming to Hogwarts, and thus just before her eleventh birthday, she was informed of some rather exciting news - she was going to become an older sister! The little girl, who her parents intend to name Christine, is due to be born mid-November.
Now that she is at Hogwarts, she hopes to finally learn as much as possible about all the subjects she is taking. Her aspirations for the future are still very vague - occupations such as Healer, Mediwitch, and Wandmaker all seem equally appealing.
((I solemnly swear that this will be fancied up and elaborated upon eventually.))
