PERSONALITY:
Remus was never the smartest of his group of friends, though he was certainly the most hard working. While James and Sirius were brilliant, especially in Transfiguration, they were confident enough not to put all of their effort into school work. He likes to find tranquility in novels and can spend hours on end pouring over books. While he is confident, he is more of a follower than a leader. He never fails to state his mind about certain issues, but feels more than comfortable to listen rather than act rashly. He is intelligent and rational, as well as loyal to his friends and family. His bravery is also marked by his willingness to participate in battles and adventures. He is haunted forever by what he was forced to become, despising other werewolves and fearing the full moon. Remus is fierce in battle and doesn't show any fear when confronted with dangerous situations.

HISTORY:
Remus' childhood is not what one could call a very happy one. He was outcast at an early age, ridiculed for the monster he had become. Fenrir Greyback, a werewolf known for his ferocity and willingess to bite young children, bit him after his father offended Greyback. Remus did not think that he would be admitted to Hogwarts, being a werewolf and a social outcast. However, he received his Hogwarts letter and became almost instantaneous friends with Sirius, Peter and James who went on to become to famous Marauders. Together with his friends he went on to discover more secret passages than any other students ever had, except perhaps the Weasley twins in the generation to come.
Remus managed to instill a small amount of control over his best friends. Because being a werewolf sort of constricted his social life once a month, his friends did something incredible: they became unregistered animagi during their fifth year. This resulted in their nicknames. Sirius is Padfoot, James is Prongs, Peter is Wormtail and Remus is Moony. This allowed his friends to remain with him during his transformations in the shrieking shack, since werewolves aren't a danger to other animals in the same way as to humans. Remus went on to become prefect, received good enough grades and left Hogwarts.
After Hogwarts, Remus had trouble getting a job. He was employed by Albus Dumbledore for position as Defence Against the Dark Arts professor, something he gladly accepted. He had to resign however once his secret was out, causing a general uproar from concerned parents.
The battle against Voldemort and his fellow Death Eaters sparked again, during which he met Nymphadora Tonks who was madly in love with him. His primary concern was that she was so young, had a life ahead of her and in his opinion could have so much better than him. But she chose him and after much back and forth, he decided to marry her. Tonks was pregnant and Remus not at all happy. His fear that his offspring would inherit some of his lycanthropic genes was high. However, Teddy (Ted) Lupin was born a metamorphmagus and not a werewolf to Lupin's great relief. This relief was only short lived though because both Nymphadora and Remus passed away at the next battle that took place at Hogwarts.
Miraculously the mystery behind the veil in the Department of Mysteries could be unveiled (no pun intended!) and Remus was able to return to his old life, knowing that everything had changed. Nymphadora decided to remain behind, not wanting to face a life after having been dead for so long. Voldemort was defeated during the last war, however, the veil allowed for him and quite a few of his Death Eaters to return as well. Now Sirius and James have also returned and they won't stand by as Voldemort claims power once more. Remus was given the post of Minister for Magic. A lot will change during this uprising, the third time around...
