Hermione had spent quite sometime on holidays in the Swiz Alps with her parents. It had been a wonderful trip and she appreciated the time away but of course she missed Hogwarts dearly and was glad to be back.
As Hermione climbed through the portrait she noticed a different atmosphere in the castle. It seemed empty and cold..where were all the people? she thought to herself. Of course, the first place she had to visit was her "home away from home"-the library. Passing a few ghosts and what she thought were distant footsteps, she reached the fourth floor.
She smiled when she entered the familiar room. Oh, I just love the smell of books she smiled and ran her fingers against the dusty volumes that hadn't been removed from the shelf in quite sometime. Her silent footsteps walked through the aisles while she looked for anyone that may be of company, "is anyone in here?" she called out to the empty room, her echo the only response.

The library was intensely relaxed. It was slightly hot outside that most of the students went outside to enjoy the little sun they had left before autumn took over. She was by the window with a book in hand, sitting on a small sofa chair. She moved it facing the window so that she could absorb the sunlight while getting the information needed when reading her book. She wasn't studying for any class, but rather reading for fun. She found a childrens book that seemed pretty legit to read for someone her age. It was the Deathly Hallows book. She remembered being read the story when she was younger. It was to teach her morals.
She was getting to the part where the first brother was dying when she heard someone's voice ask if anyone was here. It was slightly familiar from the Common Rooms, but she couldn't be sure. She turned her head around to find a first year looking confused on why no one is here. Claire bent the top page corner of her book to know where she was, closed it and put it down.
She turned around on the sofa, both knees on the cushion and smiled. "I am," she said, quietly. Claire was known to be quiet, but she felt like this person is a good trust. She is in Gryffindor for peeves sake.

Hermione was so relieved to see another person in the library. She smiled at the fellow Gryffindor. "I hope I'm not interrupting you," she gestured to the book in her hand. "My name is Hermione Granger. I think we've met once in the common room." She extended her hand.
"I suppose most of the students are outside right now," Hermione postulated, looking through the window. After all, it was such a beautiful day. The lake, like glass, only shivered slightly when a few leaves from the willows dropped softly and many of the students had taken the liberty of spreading out on the grass, soaking up the August sun.

Claire shook her head. "Oh no, you're not," she lied. But it was a lie for a good cause. It would be rude to tell her that she was and go back to a book. Words will always be there, but not moments such as these. Maybe she'll meet another friend, and quite frankly, throughout the years of being in Hogwarts, Claire has only been friends with a few people.
Claire got off the chair, grabbed her book and walked over to Hermione. "I'm Claire Lunette," she said, stretching her bookless arm out to shake her hand. "It's nice to meet you," she said, smiling back at her.
"Most are, yes," she agreed. She didn't know what to say next, but rather to wonder why she was in her than out there too. "Doing some studying so early?" she asked, giving a small laugh. She knew that there were some people like that, however, mostly from Ravenclaw than Gryffindor.

Hermione smiled, "for once, no." She paused for a moment thoughtfully, "I like to come here to think sometimes.. it's often quiet, it gives me a chance to collect my thoughts and clear my head."
Hermione glimpsed at the book in Claire's hand, "that's an odd book to be reading" she mumbled. "Sorry, I didn't mean it in a rude way," she looked down a bit ashamed she spoken so bluntly. "Just that people often overlook children's classics. I think it's rather sad, really. Even the simplest stories can hold a lot of truth, wouldn't you agree?"

Claire couldn't agree more with Hermione. Sometimes the quiet is the best place to be when wanting to think and get things out to oneself. It was sort of what she was doing too. Though she really didn't have a lot of overwhelming thoughts to go through. She just wanted time for herself.
Claire held her book and looked at it when Hermione mentioned about it. She shrugged and laughed. "My father used to always read it to me when I was younger. So I thought that maybe this could be a way for me to explore my inner childhood," she said. "It's only a fairy tale. You never know what to expect though... According to muggles, magic and witches are fairy tales too. So this story may be true or not, but you never know until you can see it," she added. Claire had never seen a resurrection stone, invisibility cloak nor an elder wand in order to fully believe that this fairy tale is true. However, she enjoyed the story no less.
"You're born in the muggle world, it's a lot different than the Wizarding World, isn't it?" she asked, curious.

"Yes," she nodded. "It is quite a different world but I think in the end the innate nature of people and wizards remain the same; we're just as power hungry and full of flaws as they are." She paused for a moment. "I guess the only real difference is that our flaws could lead to greater consequences..." She cleared her throat and smiled, "they are fascinating to study. Have you taken a muggle studies lecture yet?"
